Overview
The official 120-second cinematic reveal and dynamic architectural lighting showcase for Rabat Stadium — Morocco's 75,000-seat world-class football venue. Conceived to celebrate national football legacy, the film bridges grassroots street passion with modern architectural wonder, transforming the stadium by night into an expressive living canvas of light.
Rather than producing an advertisement for a building, the project was approached as an emotionally charged cultural journey. The narrative begins in quiet medina alleys where a child plays barefoot, igniting a spark of golden energy that swells across Moroccan landscapes, transforms into professional athleticism, and culminates inside the continent's most technologically advanced football cathedral.
LAMALIF Group × Spectacle
Urban Lighting Engineering & Architectural Dynamic Media Facade Partner (in collaboration with Populous)
LAMALIF Group is Morocco's foremost urban lighting engineering and architectural illumination powerhouse. In partnership with Spectacle and global stadium architecture leaders Populous, they spearheaded the transformative dynamic lighting integration for the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. Commissioning this cinematic master film, they sought to celebrate Morocco's football soul while establishing the 75,000-seat arena as an expressive, world-stage digital monument leading up to the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Navigating the Complexities
The Rabat Stadium envelope features a complex, woven diagonal lattice (diagrid) facade. Translating delicate particle streams, calligraphic flourishes, and high-speed motion onto this architectural surface required overcoming significant physical constraints: ensuring macro-scale legibility across vast viewing distances, splitting the visual stream into dual 2×1800-pixel viewing angles to prevent anamorphic distortion from perimeter pedestrian plazas, and harmonizing photorealistic 3D environments (Cinema 4D), stylized 2D character animation, and high-density particle physics (After Effects).
Strategic Execution
Developed a 6-chapter narrative architecture fusing Moroccan heritage (Zellige tilework, arabesques, sacred calligraphy) with cutting-edge particle physics. The color palette was deliberately restrained to obsidian black, luminous gold veins (#D4AF37), and electric teal, bursting in the finale into the national red and green flag and stadium fireworks. Delivered a pristine broadcast 4K ProRes master alongside loopable exterior light-show variations.

Architectural Monumentality & Multi-Tier Production Scope
Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium stands as one of Africa's most ambitious modern sporting cathedrals. Translating this monumental scale into a cohesive visual experience required an extensive, multi-layered production pipeline — uniting 100,000 m² of parametric diagrid facade geometry, 70 kilometers of nocturnal spiraling LED strips, 26 storyboard frames, 17 styleframe scenes, and a broadcast-grade 4K ProRes master reveal.
