3S Lighting Solutions is a specialized architectural lighting installation and design firm renowned for landmark global projects, including the Burj Khalifa, BR Headquarters, and major developments across the Middle East, UK, and Canada. To establish an immediate 'wow' factor in their corporate reception, we conceptualized and hand-crafted a bespoke, illuminated spatial lightboard installation narrating their portfolio of landmark projects through light.
Instead of standard digital displays or scattered print frames, our approach transformed dozens of the firm's iconic lighting projects into a single, unified illuminated lightboard artwork. The core concept leveraged precise optical contrast: deep black vector zones completely block backlighting, while intricate white and yellow contour lines allow light to transmit freely. When powered on, the intricate architectural geometry radiates with high-luminance clarity.
Navigating the Complexities
The primary challenge was consolidating an extensive portfolio of complex architectural feats—from supertall towers like Burj Khalifa to sprawling corporate headquarters—into a single coherent artwork without visual clutter. Furthermore, automated tracing software produces messy anchors, uneven line weights, and optical artifacts that fail when backlit at large scale. Every line had to be surgically defined to ensure crisp light dissipation.
Strategic Execution
Every architectural element was drawn manually by hand from scratch using an Apple Pencil on iPad in Affinity Designer—avoiding auto-trace entirely. This pure, mathematical vector blueprint guarantees infinite resolution and flawless edge sharpness at architectural scale. At the crown of the installation, the 3S Lighting Solutions brand identity was engineered with an ambient neon back-glow, harmonizing the spatial reception experience.
